Kittens and Puppies

There are many benefits in starting regular veterinary care.  For puppies and kittens, regular veterinary visits are recommended during the first six months of life to ensure your new pet stays healthy and happy.  Socialization is key when they are young and visits to the veterinarian are part of that process.

The first exam is typically between 7 to 9 weeks of age, in which they receive a thorough exam, first vaccine(s) in the series, worming medication, and advice on puppy and kitten training.  During these visits we are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your newest housemate.  We can discuss dietary needs, flea control, dental care, and when it is time to spay or neuter.

We highly recommend bringing in a fresh fecal sample (less than 2 hours old, or refrigerated and brought in same day) to send to the laboratory on the first visit. Although shelters and breeders may have de-wormed your puppy or kitten, they typically use a general worming medication for the most common worms puppies and kittens have: Roundworms. However, there are other internal parasites pets may be harboring, and a fecal test sent to the lab can help identify other potential internal parasites present.
