Dr. Kristen Mowrer grew up on the farmlands on Skagit Valley with a plethora of pets. A special bond with a paint horse named TJ inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine to become a horse doctor. She attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and obtained a bachelor’s degree in zoology prior to attending veterinary school. Somewhere along the way she had a change of heart and decided to become a small-animal veterinarian instead of equine-only.
Dr. Mowrer practiced mixed animal medicine in Skagit County prior to coming to Northshore. She loves the challenges and critical thinking that comes with practicing medicine. She also loves the bond that animals and people share, and is committed to supporting that bond. Dr. Mowrer loves dentistry and soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and chronic disease management. Dr. Mowrer is also trained in Chinese Veterinary Medicine and practices acupuncture and herbal therapy.
Outside of the clinic Dr. Mowrer enjoys road cycling, horseback riding, remodeling projects on her 100-year old farmhouse, visiting Pullman and cheering on the Cougs, and being a mom to her new baby, Maeben. She and her husband have a border collie mutt named Bennett, two cats, Freydy and Tweaker, and two paint horses, Tula and Lucy.
